About Blaze Blocker

Colorado's Wildfire Home Defense Specialists

Blaze Blocker Wildfire Home Defense was built in Colorado — for Colorado residents. We live here too, a family owned and operated business, our team takes pride in serving our Front Range neighbors with local knowledge and love of our homes and the land they sit on. Every project is built around Colorado's specific wildfire risk profile, the Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code, and the science-backed IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home™ standard.

Quick Answer

Blaze Blocker is a Colorado-owned wildfire home-hardening contractor serving Front Range and mountain homeowners. We assess every ignition vulnerability on a property — roof, siding, decks, vents, gutters, and surrounding defensible space — then install CWRC-compliant materials and document the work for insurance review.

Research from the IBHS and NFPA 1144 shows a fully hardened home can reduce ignition vulnerability by up to 90%.

Our story

Blaze Blocker was founded out of the recognized need for Colorado homeowners to be better educated on the measures that protect their homes from wildfire risk.

We partner with some of the best subcontractors in the industry to ensure that your home receives top-tier home hardening and defensible space services.

About our founder

Abe Bergan, Founder

Abe Bergan was born and raised in Colorado. His background in natural resource management, business operations, and residential construction is the foundation for his leadership of the company today. When he’s not on-site walking a customer’s property, Abe can be found chasing his kids through the Colorado forest, mountain biking, or fly fishing. His deep love of Colorado’s wilderness — and the joy of living in it — fuels his daily operational acumen in ensuring Blaze Blocker delivers on its promise of top-tier customer service.

“My family’s home is situated in what’s considered a high-risk wildfire zone. Between the ongoing preparedness discussions amongst our family and the very apparent need to ensure we have taken all necessary steps to protect our property, Blaze Blocker was born. There was nobody offering services that focused on the whole home plus the land. We are filling that gap.”
